This past year, clients of the McCormick Dementia Services Day Program were invited to participate in a special art therapy project sponsored by the London Arts Council and the McCormick Care Foundation. In addition to participating in visual arts activities, clients enjoyed working with professional artists in music and dance.
“The breadth and depth of this program has proven to be so meaningful to our participants in many different ways,” says Karen Johnson, Director of McCormick Dementia Services. “The opportunity to reach out and connect through different media with the support of professional artists created a mutually enriching artistic experience for everyone involved.”
The Art of Remembering Videos
“Overnight respite provides a break from my ongoing caregiver challenges and enables me to recharge my batteries. The end result is that I have been able to keep my husband at home as long as possible. When I pick him up after an overnight respite stay, he is so happy!”
