Moving Forward Together

luck-of-the-irish

CTV News London covered the Irish festivities held at McCormick Home to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. (Nick Paparella / CTV News) On March 17, 2021, CTV London News featured a story on the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations at McCormick Home. The day marked the first time that many residents were able to go outdoors and enjoy the sunshine together in more than a year.

After so many months of uncertainty and numerous restrictions for the sake of everyone’s health and safety, we are now beginning to see a glimmer of change on the horizon, most particularly through the measured rollout of vaccines to our residents, staff and our wider community as well as through the introduction of rapid antigen testing.

I am grateful to all our McCormick Home staff for responding so well to our new testing protocols. We know that by remaining steadfast in our commitment to safety, we will one day be able to be together again.

While it is wonderful to see some progress on the COVID-19 front, we know that caution is key.  That is why we are being extremely supportive of any changes to the guidelines for our residents, family members, visitors, caregivers and staff, as directed by the Ministry of Long-Term Care.

Rapid Antigen Testing at McCormick Care Group

Recently, McCormick Home began administering rapid antigen test testing for its staff, essential caregivers, support workers, and anyone entering the home. This new practice marks a departure from the standard COVID-19 test that has been regularly conducted at the home..

McCormick Care Group Employee Values Award 2021

Each year, the McCormick Care Group recognizes an employee for their special contribution to demonstrating our organizational values of compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and collaboration. This year, the peer-nominated award recognized the value of accountability. We are pleased to announce that Shelley McGinnis, administrative assistant for McCormick Dementia Services, is this year’s recipient.

A Day in the Life

Even though our McCormick Day Program is currently at a reduced capacity because of COVID-19, we are often asked about what a day in the program looks like for our clients. We thought we would provide a peek through our doors and describe our physical environment, our typical daily routines, and the types of person-centred activities we provide.

A Look Back in History

We are pleased to share an in-depth look at our founding as the Women’s Christian Association in 1874 and the compelling history that followed.  You are invited to take your time to review four presentations that outline our history from 1874 to 1999.

McCormick Home is  grateful to the London community for voting us Best Nursing Home in the annual rankings conducted by The London Free Press.
