COVID-19 Notice for McCormick Dementia Services

McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Outbreak Statement December 9, 2020

Notice to McCormick Dementia Services Clients and Caregivers

On June 22, 2020, and in full compliance with recommendations from the Middlesex-London Health Unit, we began to welcome back a very limited number of high-risk clients per week.  We will continue to evaluate our progress and welcome more clients as we are able, while remaining within strict safety guidelines.  We appreciate the challenges presented by our program closure and will be in touch with individual caregivers and clients directly as program spacing permits.

Please note that the safety and well-being of our clients, their families and our staff is our highest priority.  We appreciate the impact that this closure may have, given that many of those in our care represent the segment of the population most at risk.

If you are a caregiver of someone with dementia at home, we are offering several helpful resources that are designed to provide the support you need during this challenging time:

Caregiver’s Corner – This new website contains helpful presentations and videos by our care support and recreation staff members that address personal care, recreation activities, and strategies for managing day-to-day tasks.  We also feature a helpful weekly newsletter that highlights new content and updates about our virtual program offerings.

Overnight Respite Program – In light of COVID-19, please visit our Modified Overnight Respite Program page to learn more about our current services.

Social Work and Recreational Support – Our social workers and recreational staff are available to provide one-on-one support over the phone.  If you would like to arrange an appointment, please contact us at 519-439-9336 or e-mail

Activity Kits – We are delivering personalized activity kits for clients to use in the comfort of their home.  These kits are recommended for our clients and caregivers who have limited access to our online support options.

Zoom Support Groups and Recreation Programs – We offer regularly scheduled support groups and a wide variety of recreation programs for both clients and caregivers delivered via Zoom video conferencing.

Facebook – You may also wish to visit our McCormick Dementia Services Facebook page for updates on our various activities and programs.

Please contact us at 519-439-9336 or if you have any questions.

Thank you for your continued support.
