COVID-19 Update April 29, 2022

McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update

Friday, April 29, 2022

This is a McCormick Care Group update for Friday, April 29, 2022.

The Ministry of Long-Term Care released updated directives that came into effect on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.  As discussed during Wednesday night’s family Zoom meeting, the new directives put into place by the chief medical officer of health for Ontario, will remain in place until at least June 11, 2022.

There are only a few changes from the previous directives that have been in place since March 14, 2022, which are as follows:

Masking

  • The masking requirement for residents, visitors, staff, students and volunteers when outdoors has been removed. Universal masking for staff, students, volunteers and visitors is still required for the entire duration of their shift or visit indoors.
  • As a result, if you are visiting your loved ones outdoors, you are welcome to share a beverage, snack or meal together.

COVID-19 Asymptomatic Screen Testing

The testing requirements for staff, students, volunteers and caregivers have now been updated to reflect the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 vaccination recommendations, as outlined in the guidance document Staying Up to Date with COVID-19 Vaccines: Recommended Doses.

Staying up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccines means a person has received all recommended COVID-19 vaccine doses, including any booster dose(s) when eligible. It is no longer appropriate to use the term “fully vaccinated” for those who have received two vaccines, as they may not be up-to-date.

At this time, daily rapid testing will continue until at least June 11, 2022, at McCormick Home.

More details can be found in the meeting minutes that were circulated on Thursday evening.
