McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update
Sunday, December 26, 2021
This is a McCormick Care Group COVID-19 Update for Sunday, December 26, 2021.
I am pleased to report that the outstanding swab for the resident on Memory Lane has been returned and is negative. All residents and staff will be re-swabbed tomorrow, December 27, 2021, seven days from the last active exposure, as per health unit requirements. Swabbing for staff will take place between 8:30am- 4:30pm.
A reminder to all visitors and caregivers coming into the home, as per Ministry directive, proof of vaccination must be on record or shown to screeners to gain entry into the home. Disrespectful conduct toward the screeners will not be tolerated.
Updated Ministry guidance was released on Christmas Eve in response to the increasing Omicron Variant. The Ministry is urging homes to impress upon residents and their families who are leaving the home for a social day visit to:
- Limit contact to people who are fully vaccinated
- Limit contact to as few people as possible (and not more than 10 people as per indoor gathering rules)
- Follow social distancing and masking guidance as much as possible
- Be vigilant about hand hygiene
Following a return to the home from a day’s absence, all homes are urged, where test supply permits, to rapid antigen test residents for seven continuous days or to consider PCR testing on days 1 and 7 if that is a more feasible option. The home has supply of rapid tests so will conduct daily rapid testing for applicable residents.
COVID-19 cases in Ontario have now surpassed 10,000 per day, so please continue to be extremely diligent in following all public health measures.
Stay safe
