COVID-19 Update Dec 28 2021

McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update

Tuesday, December 28, 2021

This is a McCormick Care Group COVID-19 Update for Tuesday, December 28, 2021.

I am pleased to report that all of the residents’ PCR test results from Memory Lane have come back negative from the testing completed yesterday. We continue to receive staff results from Memory Lane; all have been negative so far.

We remain on track to have the Memory Lane outbreak declared over sometime on December 31, 2021 following consultation with the Middlesex-London Health Unit.  Please keep in mind this could still change over the next few days, if more people associated with Memory Lane test positive for COVID-19.

Due to a shortage of rapid antigen testing kits across the province, the home is anticipating having to change to another type of testing kit in the next day or so.  To ensure staff are tested and can begin providing care in a timely manner, we are asking that caregivers not arrive to visit during shift change to allow the processors to focus on staff testing.  At this time, we are asking that you avoid arriving between 1:30pm and 2:15pm.

The Ministry has just released additional restrictions for long-term care homes effective December 30, 2021.  These include banning access to general visitors and pausing day absences for residents for social purposes.   Fully vaccinated designated caregivers may continue to enter our home.  This is a developing situation: more information will come as it becomes available.

Please continue to be extremely diligent following all public health measures including masking, physical distancing and hand hygiene.

Have a wonderful day,
