McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update
Thursday, December 30, 2021
This is a McCormick Care Group COVID-19 Update for Thursday, December 30, 2021.
There will be an important Family Zoom meeting tonight at 6:30pm to review the additional temporary measures put into place today by the Ministry of Long Term Care. These temporary measures are anticipated to be in effect for the next 6-8 weeks. I encourage you to join the call or have someone from your family join. The Zoom meeting particulars will be sent out in a separate email.
Over the past two days, there has been an increase in positive results on rapid testing for staff and caregivers. Caregivers have indicated to us that some residents who went out over Christmas have since learned about possible exposures to COVID-19. I hope to have an update on the Memory Lane outbreak this evening, but there is a possibility that the outbreak will not be declared over tomorrow as hoped, based on these results. Our local health unit along with our Home are dedicated to trying to keep residents, caregivers and staff safe through this extremely challenging phase of the pandemic.
Due to a shortage of rapid antigen testing kits across the province, the home is anticipating having to change to another type of testing kit in the next day or so. To ensure staff are tested and can begin providing care in a timely manner, we are asking that caregivers not arrive to visit during shift change to allow the processors to focus on staff testing. At this time, we are asking that you avoid arriving between 1:30pm and 2:15pm.
Please continue to be extremely diligent following all public health measures including masking, physical distancing and hand hygiene.
Thank you,
