McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update
Tuesday, December 14, 2021
This is a McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update for Tuesday, December 14, 2021.
We have just received notification that a second staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. An outbreak is being declared in Memory Lane only. All residents will be placed on contact/droplet precautions. All staff and residents are required to be tested today or tomorrow, and again on Day 7, which would be December 20, 2021.
As a reminder, when in outbreak, residents are permitted to have one essential caregiver visitor at a time. Essential caregivers would have to wear full droplet/contact precautions, which include mask, eye protection, gown and gloves in order to enter the home area.
We have commenced our PCR testing in Memory Lane for residents now, and we will advise of the results as soon as we have them.
In addition to the above, the ministry has just announced new restrictions for long-term care homes due to the Omicron variant of concern. These updates will be reviewed at tonight’s Zoom meeting. All families are strongly encouraged to attend, as the changes are significant. In addition, an update will be sent out as soon as possible.
