COVID-19 Update December 15 2021-2

McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update

Wednesday, December 15, 2021

This is a second McCormick Care Group COVID-19 Update for Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

I have received some additional information and clarification from the ministry since the latest restrictions were released on December 14, 2021.  A summary of these highlights includes:

  • Effective December 15, 2021, at 7:00 p.m., unvaccinated visitors are not permitted entry into the home.
  • Children who are not fully vaccinated are not permitted entry into the home, as they pose a high risk of the virus entering the home. Children may be exposed to viruses in school, daycare and other settings. In addition, COVID-19 cases among children ages five to 11 have been showing the highest growth of new cases in recent weeks.
  • Infants under the age of one are not considered visitors and can enter the home (testing and vaccination requirements do not apply). Fully vaccinated visitors, including children ages five to 11, are permitted into the home.
  • As of Friday, December 17, 2021, outdoor visits, where feasible, are permitted for up to four people per resident at a time. Visitors must undergo rapid testing prior to commencing the outdoor visit.
  • Fully vaccinated caregivers and visitors are no longer permitted to share food or drinks while in the home at this time, as all visitors/caregivers must be fully masked for the duration of their visit. Essential caregivers may still accompany a resident to assist in the dining room where applicable.

A second family Zoom meeting will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 6:30 p.m. to review and clarify the recent changes and answer any questions you may have.  If families want to express their concerns related to the changes being implemented, the ministry has indicated that they can be e-mailed at mltcpandemicresponse@ontario.ca.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during these challenging times.
