McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update
Wednesday, December 9, 2020
We regret to announce that a COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at McCormick Home.
A resident has tested positive for the virus; however, the resident is undergoing a second test at this time to confirm the result.
In the interim, we have been advised by the Middlesex-London Health Unit to declare an outbreak at the home. An outbreak is declared at an institution if there is one (or more) laboratory-confirmed case of COVID-19 in a resident or staff member.
Please note that McCormick Dementia Services is not experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak at this time.
While McCormick Home is our partnering organization in dementia care, both facilities have been operating separately since the start of the pandemic. Access between the home and dementia services sides of the building has been closed for the last several months. As such, our staff and clients have not been exposed to any members of the McCormick Home community.
All our staff and residents have undergone regular COVID-19 testing and will be tested again today, Wednesday, December 9.
Our last round of staff testing occurred on November 25 and 26, 2020, and all results were negative.
We have a measured plan to respond to outbreaks and our staff have been trained to manage quickly and effectively in these circumstances.
We continue to consult with the Middlesex-London Health Unit and will follow their instructions accordingly.
We are grateful for the incredible support shown by our residents, staff and families and know that we will get through this difficult time together.
More information and updates will be provided on this website as the situation progresses.
