McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update
Thursday, February 3, 2022
This is a McCormick Care Group update for Thursday, February 3, 2022.
Today, the Ministry of Long-Term Care announced plans to begin easing the temporary measures introduced in December as a result of the Omicron wave. The temporary restrictions were estimated to be in place for six to eight weeks.
Beginning February 7, 2022, there will be a gradual easing of temporary enhanced measures in the context of the broader Reopening Ontario program announced by the province in January. These measures include:
- Increasing the maximum number of designated caregivers per resident from two to four, unless previously designated before December 15, 2021.
- Continuing the limit of two caregivers at a time per resident for visiting purposes.
- Resuming social absences for residents who have had at least three COVID-19 vaccine doses, while ensuring public health measures are adhered to while out of the home.
A family Zoom meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. to review the changes taking place between February 7 and March 14, 2022, and to answer any questions you may have. Details for the Zoom meeting will be sent out separately.
Third Dose Vaccinations
As previously communicated, the Ministry of Long-Term Care has extended the deadline for mandatory third doses for all staff, students, caregivers, support workers and volunteers.
The updated directive requires proof of having received a third dose by March 14, 2022, unless a valid medical exemption is involved.
I am pleased to report that more than 95% of our staff have submitted proof of their third dose to date. If you have received your third dose and have not yet submitted proof, please do so as quickly as possible by e-mailing tpol@mccormickcare.ca.
Please note that the ministry is now requesting that all individuals entering McCormick Home show proof of vaccination with the enhanced vaccine certificate. Please visit covid19.ontariohealth.ca to obtain your copy. If you require assistance, please let us know and we will be happy to help.
An on-site vaccination clinic will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022. If you require your third dose, please contact Tanya or Arlene to schedule your appointment.
Have a wonderful evening.
