McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update #2
Monday, February 7, 2022
This is a second McCormick Care Group update for Monday, February 7, 2022.
If residents and families wish to take their loved ones out for a day absence, the testing requirements for residents are as follows:
- A rapid antigen test and PCR test on Day 5 following the absence will be administered. No isolation is required unless a positive result is received. If a timely PCR test is not available, two rapid antigen tests 24 hours apart may be used as an alternative.
- Residents who go on absences on a daily or frequent basis are to have a laboratory-based PCR test and rapid antigen test on the same day, two times per week (for example, a PCR and rapid test on Tuesday; and a PCR and rapid test on Friday).
- If a resident who has received at least three vaccine doses has a known exposure to a case during their absence, they must be treated as a high-risk contact as per the guidelines stated in the Ministry of Health COVID-19 Guidance for Long-Term Care Homes and Retirement Homes for Public Health Units. This exposure requires the resident to isolate until a PCR test administered on Day 5 is negative.
Have a wonderful day.
