COVID-19 Update February 12 2021 2

McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update #2

Friday February 12, 2021

This is a McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update #2 for Friday, February 12, 2021.

As a follow up to Update #1 for Friday, February 12, 2021, I am writing to provide further clarification:

In order to be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccination, one must currently be an approved essential caregiver.  Essential caregivers, as defined by the Ministry of Long-Term Care, are:

“a type of essential visitor who is designated by the resident and/ or their substitute decision maker and is visiting to provide direct care to the resident (e.g. supporting feeding, mobility, personal hygiene, cognitive stimulation, communication, meaningful connection, relations continuity and assistance in decision-making).   In many cases, caregivers include family members who provide meaningful connection, privately hired caregivers, paid companions and translators.”

Vaccinations are limited to approved essential caregivers only; other family members are not eligible, at this time.

The audio file of last night’s ZOOM family meeting is too large to send at this time. I am working with our IT consultant to see how we can share the file with those who have requested a copy.

Thank you for your understanding,
