COVID-19 Update February 3 2021

McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update

Wednesday February 3, 2021

This is a McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update for Wednesday, February 03, 2021.

There are no probable or suspected cases of COVID-19 among our residents or staff at this time.

A reminder that all residents in the home will receive their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Saturday, February 6, 2021. The health unit has confirmed that we do not require a second consent form for your loved one. Any new admission since the initial vaccination on January 16, 2021 will receive the first dose, provided consent has been given.

The Ministry of Long Term Care announced last week that all long-term care homes will have to implement Rapid Antigen Testing beginning no later than February 22, 2021. I participated on a ministry webinar on Tuesday, February 02, 2021 and the ministry advised that it is re-evaluating several components of this directive. Once we receive further clarification, we will finalize our implementation plan.

Thank you for your patience. A Zoom meeting will be scheduled to discuss these changes and describe how this new testing regime will impact on your visits to the Home once we learn more from the ministry.

Have a wonderful day,
