COVID-19 Update January 14 2021

McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update

Thursday January 14, 2021

This is a McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update for Thursday, January 14, 2021.

There are no probable or suspected cases of COVID-19 among our residents or staff at this time.

I am pleased to report that 63% of the staff within our organization have received their first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. The Ministry has indicated the goal is to vaccinate all long-term care and high-risk retirement home residents by February 15, 2021.  Given the need to prioritize doses for long-term care home residents, bookings at the Agriplex are temporarily being put on pause for staff at this time. Previously booked staff appointments at the Agriplex Clinic will continue as scheduled.

Vaccination appointments at the Western Fair District are not currently available for essential caregivers. You will be notified once additional vaccine is available, and you will receive additional information about the process through which essential caregivers can book an appointment.  As an essential caregiver, if you are interested in receiving the vaccine, please send me an email at tpol@mccormickcare.ca or call me at 519-432-2648 ext. 2321.  We are compiling a list, so we can advise you as soon as they signal that they are ready to vaccinate essential caregivers.

Despite the provincial stay-at-home order, at this time, essential caregivers are still permitted to come into the home.  We will advise you if and when this direction changes.  In the meantime, increased diligence and strict infection control measures are critical in our ongoing effort to protect our residents, staff and caregivers.

We thank you for your ongoing understanding as we fight against the spread of COVID-19.

Have a wonderful weekend,
