McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update #2
Friday January 8, 2021
This is a McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 #2 Update for Friday, January 08, 2021.
There are no probable or suspected cases of COVID-19 among our residents or staff at this time.
We just received an update from the Middlesex London Public Health Unit, related to the resident vaccination program for COVID-19. Clarification has been provided this morning by the health unit that only one consent form is required.
However, we just learned that consent forms must be signed; verbal consents will not be accepted. Please contact Arlene MacDonald at 519-432-2648 Ext. 2402 or amacdonald@mccormickcare.ca if you have previously provided your verbal consent, to arrange for signing the consent form. If you do not have a current COVID-19 test, we would be pleased to bring the paperwork out to the parking lot for your signature.
As a reminder, when you are providing your consent, on behalf of your family member, please be aware that you will be consenting to them receiving either the Moderna or the Pfizer vaccine. In response to a question raised by some family members, I have confirmed with Dr. Alex Summers that residents will receive the same vaccine for both doses. If one has received the Pfizer vaccine for the first dose, they will receive the Pfizer vaccine for the second.
Vaccinations are voluntary, but strongly encouraged, by the health unit. While we do not have a confirmed date for our residents to receive the first round of vaccination, we have been asked to collect consents from residents, or their substitute decision makers, so that vaccines can be administered as quickly as possible, once they arrive at our home.
We thank you for your assistance in helping to fight against the spread of COVID-19.
Have a wonderful weekend,
