McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update

Friday, June 12, 2020

This is a McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update for Friday, June 12, 2020.  We will continue to provide these updates every Monday, Wednesday and Friday as needed.

There are no probable or suspected cases of COVID-19 among our residents or staff at this time.

We received communication late Thursday afternoon from the Ontario government that visits to long-term care homes can resume on Thursday, June 18, 2020.  This process will unfold in a staged approach that will begin with outdoor visits only for one family member per resident per week.

Visits will be subjected to strict health and safety protocols, including requiring visitors to pass active screening at each visit, confirming with staff that they have tested negative for COVID-19 within the previous two weeks, and complying with infection prevention and control protocols, which include bringing and wearing a face covering during outdoor visits.  You are encouraged to attend one of the COVID-19 assessment centres in the city to begin this process.

We are currently in the process of working out the scheduling logistics and will be in touch with you in the coming days to schedule a visit.  We know you are anxious to see your loved ones, but please refrain from calling the home at this time to allow us the opportunity to coordinate the process.  Once we have our protocols in place, we will be in touch as quickly as possible.

Further updates will be provided in the coming days. Stay tuned, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Thank you,
