McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update
Monday, March 16, 2020
Please be advised that this is a McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update for Monday, March 16, 2020. We will be providing these updates every Monday, Wednesday and Friday as needed.
Currently there are no cases of any probable or suspected cases of COVID-19 among our residents or staff at this time.
We continue to actively screen employees each time they enter the building, including temperature-taking. Further, in keeping with recent measures announced by the Ministry of Health, if any of our staff have been outside Canada and have returned to the country on or after Saturday, March 14, they will be required to self-isolate for the required period of 14 days, regardless of whether or not they are showing symptoms.
In addition, we strongly recommend that residents not leave the building (e.g., outings, shopping, family visits) to reduce their risk of exposure. Your cooperation with this recommendation is appreciated.
In addition to restricting visitor access to the building, we are now limiting building access to only outside services that provide direct care to our residents, including physiotherapists, dietitians, and pharmaceutical representatives. Please note that we not be providing hair salons services until further notice.
Please note that our supplies of both food and personal protective equipment are well-stocked and that no concerns have been expressed by our suppliers regarding any anticipated shortages.
If you would like to drop off or pick up any items for your loved one at the home, please do so between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. or between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. A staff member will be available to assist you.
If you wish to connect with your loved one via Facetime or Skype, please contact social worker Joanne Nancekivell at 519-432-2648 ext. 2369, and she will work with you to schedule a suitable time for an on-screen visit. In addition, our recreation specialists will be making an extra effort to take photos of our residents and e-mail them to families. If you have any questions, please contact our Life Enrichment Manager Ruth-Anne Durocher at 519-432-2638 ext. 2372.
We recognize the difficulties associated with these current measures. Please be assured that the health and wellbeing of our residents is our top priority. Your cooperation and understanding are appreciated.
