McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update
Tuesday March 16, 2021
This is a McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update for Tuesday, March 16, 2021.
There are no probable or suspected cases of COVID-19 among our residents or staff at this time.
The Ministry of Long-Term Care amended the Minister’s Directive: COVID-19 – Long-Term Care Home Surveillance Testing and Access to Homes, effective March 15, 2021. With this latest revision, there are some changes to the requirements for caregiver testing:
Approved essential caregivers will no longer have to wait for the rapid antigen test to process before proceeding to the resident’s room, provided they are visiting with the appropriate personal protective equipment as outlined in Directive #3 and adhere to infection prevention and control practices.
Staff, caregivers, student placements and volunteers can complete one PCR test and one rapid antigen test within a seven-day period, as far apart as possible; OR
Rapid antigen testing on site as per the required frequency.
Rapid antigen testing will be available between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., seven days per week. If you are visiting in the evening, please arrive at the home no later than 7:40 p.m. to allow for the test to be processed.
For our tracking and testing purposes, a “week” will be considered Monday to Sunday.
Please be reminded that as long as the London-Middlesex area is a designated public health region of orange, red or grey, residents are not permitted to leave the property unless for medical reasons.
Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we navigate through these changes together.
