McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update
Thursday, November 4, 2021
This is a McCormick Home update for Thursday, November 4, 2021.
On Wednesday, November 3, 2021, the provincial government announced that booster doses of COVID-19 vaccinations will be made available to selected vulnerable populations starting on November 6, 2021. The list below applies only to individuals for whom at least six months has passed since their last dose (as of today that would be on or before May 4, 2021):
- Individuals aged 70 and over (born in 1951 or earlier)
- Health care workers and designated essential caregivers in congregate settings (including long-term care home and retirement home staff and designated caregivers)
- Individuals who received a complete series of a viral vector vaccine (two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine or one dose of the Janssen vaccine)
- First Nation, Inuit and Métis adults and their non-Indigenous household members
Third doses of both the Pfizer vaccine and the Moderna vaccine will be available at the health unit’s mass vaccination clinics. Individuals who received first and/or second doses of the AstraZeneca Covishield vaccine can receive an mRNA vaccine for their third dose.
Appointments can be booked at www.covidvaccinelm.ca or by calling 226-289-3560 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., seven days a week. Please note that appointments must be prescheduled for third doses — walk-ins are not available.
The home is currently determining when we can offer clinics based on staff availability and when we will receive doses of the vaccine. If you are interested in receiving a third dose, please contact Tanya Pol as soon as possible by e-mail at tpol@mccormickcare.ca or by calling 519-432-2648, ext. 2321.
Thank you,
Tanya Pol,
