McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update
Thursday, October 8, 2020
This is a McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update for Thursday, October 8, 2020. We will continue to provide these updates twice weekly, on Mondays and Thursdays, or as needed.
There are no probable or suspected cases of COVID-19 among our residents or staff at this time.
I am pleased to report that our COVID-19 staff surveillance testing completed on September 30, and October 1, 2020, resulted in 100% negative results. Currently in London-Middlesex County, there are five long-term care homes with confirmed COVID-19 outbreaks.
The importance of staff surveillance testing is critical in early identification, and our staff at McCormick Home remain committed to providing a safe environment for everyone.
After ongoing communication with London’s assessment centres, the Oakridge Arena location will transition to a “live answer” call-in format on October 9, 2020. This change will allow callers to speak directly to an individual without having to leave a message on voicemail and will assist in confirming appointments in a timely manner. You can obtain same-day testing at Carling Heights by showing up in person, where you will receive a ticket with an appointment time for later that day. The centre has not been at full capacity in the past few days with the changes in the testing of school populations. I have been advocating that long-term care family members be able to pre-book future appointments and will keep you updated on this progress.
With the long weekend approaching, I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving and encourage you to follow public health recommendations with limited exposure to individuals outside of your household. Please be reminded that with the holiday on Monday, our next update will be on Tuesday.
Thank you for your words of encouragement and support this past week,
