McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update
Thursday, September 17, 2020
This is a McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update for Thursday, September 17, 2020. We will continue to provide these updates twice weekly, on Mondays and Thursdays, or as needed.
There are no probable or suspected cases of COVID-19 among our residents or staff at this time.
A community COVID-19 outbreak was declared by the Middlesex-London Public Health Unit as a result of five Western University students testing positive this past weekend. This development has had a significant impact on the demand for COVID-19 testing at the city’s assessment centres. Assessment centres continue to prioritize testing for patients with symptoms, those who require a test for a medical procedure, and those who have had contact with an individual with COVID-19. I understand and appreciate the frustration you are feeling as family members, and I will continue to advocate on your behalf.
As a reminder to all family members who are coming into the home as caregivers, please visit your loved one in their room or out in the east garden. If there are no outdoor visits going on, you are free to walk or visit in the front parking lot. However, as this area is designated for outdoor visits, if there are other families present, you are not permitted to be out front. Also if your role includes assisting your loved one in the dining room, please refrain from using electronic devices (i.e., cell phones, tablets, etc.) while you are in this area of the home. Please focus on assisting with the meal so that once it is completed, you can remove yourself to limit exposure and interactions with other residents and staff. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Wishing you an enjoyable weekend,
