COVID-19 Update September 21 2020

McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update

Monday, September 21, 2020

This is a McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update for Monday, September 21, 2020.  We will continue to provide these updates twice weekly, on Mondays and Thursdays, or as needed.

There are no probable or suspected cases of COVID-19 among our residents or staff at this time.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Ontario and within our local community is on the rise at an alarming rate.  Infections are returning to long-term care homes, and as of September 20, 2020, the number of infected homes has increased to 23. This increase is very concerning, and ongoing diligence in adhering to public health measures both in and out of the home is critical to keeping our environment safe for residents, staff and caregivers.

I would like to ask families to consider carefully if they should take their loved one out on a temporary short stay absence at this time.  If so, it is important to think carefully about where you are going and how you will limit any possible risk exposure to your loved one and the home.  I would encourage all families in this category to conduct a mini risk-assessment, and consider if the outing is necessary, if the location will limit interactions with others, and if public health measures can be maintained.

Thank you for your ongoing cooperation and efforts to keep McCormick Home safe for everyone.
