McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update
Thursday, September 24, 2020
This is a McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update for Thursday, September 24, 2020. We will continue to provide these updates twice weekly, on Mondays and Thursdays, or as needed.
There are no probable or suspected cases of COVID-19 among our residents or staff at this time.
I am pleased to report that our COVID-19 staff surveillance testing completed on September 16, and September 17, 2020 resulted in 100% negative test results for our staff. I continue to be proud of our staff’s commitment to adhering to infection prevention and control practices, both inside and outside of the home. Together, we remain committed to ensuring a safe environment for all.
Many families continue to face challenges obtaining their COVID-19 test due to the recent community COVID-19 outbreak in London, the opening of schools, and the resulting pressure on the local assessment centres. I want to assure you that I continue to advocate on your behalf at every opportunity. I have spoken with the Ministry of Long-Term Care and our local health unit seeking clarity related to the 14 day testing period for families. There has been conflicting information and unclear guidance within the ministry directive. The Middlesex-London Health Unit has indicated that the day you are tested is considered “day 0”. A negative COVID-19 test result will be in effect for a full 14 days. As an example, if you are tested on a Thursday, your test will expire two weeks later at the end of the day Thursday. The Ministry of Long-Term Care concurs with this approach.
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.
Wishing you a wonderful fall weekend,
