COVID-19 Update September 28 2020

McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update

Monday, September 28, 2020

This is a McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update for Monday, September 28, 2020.  We will continue to provide these updates twice weekly, on Mondays and Thursdays, or as needed.

There are no probable or suspected cases of COVID-19 among our residents or staff at this time.

Ontario has just announced 700 new COVID-19 cases in the province.  This number is alarming and concerning, as it is the highest daily count we have seen since the pandemic was declared in March, 2020.

The long-term care sector continues to wait for an update to Directive #3 from the Ministry of Long Term Care.   In the meantime, we are continuing to follow the recommendations of Dr. Alex Summers, Associate Medical Officer of Health, with the Middlesex London Health unit.

McCormick Home is asking for your understanding and patience as we continue to suspend resident absences.

I spoke with the health unit this morning to get an update related to COVID-19 testing for families of long-term care residents. They have assured me that testing of families will remain a priority; one of the designated “eligible groups”.  I also expressed, on your behalf, concerns related to family members’ ability to complete the actual testing on a timely basis. I will provide an update as soon as I have news to share.   Mayor Holder also advocated for London to have access to pharmacy testing sites. I am hopeful that this will be in place soon.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you again for your understanding,
