COVID-19 Update September 3 2021

McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update

Friday, September 3, 2021

This is a McCormick Care Group – COVID-19 Update for Friday, September 3, 2021.

The PCR results of the second staff member have confirmed a positive result for COVID-19.  As per the ministry definitions, a confirmed outbreak in a long-term care home is defined as two or more confirmed COVID-19 cases in residents and/or staff.  The PCR results for residents have not arrived yet. As soon as we have an update, we will let you know.

As communicated yesterday, based on exposure dates, Willow Ridge and Maple Grove will be in isolation until September 5, 2021; and Evergreen Walk and Memory Lane residents will be in isolation until September 11, 2021.  Residents residing in Evergreen Walk and Memory Lane will have a second PCR test completed on September 8, 2021, as per the direction of the health unit.

In response to the latest information provided by the provincial consensus modelling table released on September 1, 2021, new projections warn that daily case counts could hit 9,000 by October in a worst-case scenario and 4,000 if the province continues on the current trajectory.

In response to our outbreak and projected modelling, effective immediately, the home will be implementing the following testing guidelines for all individuals entering the home:

  • Fully vaccinated individuals will be tested every other day, to a maximum of three times per week.
  • Unvaccinated individuals will be tested upon every entry to the home.

McCormick Care Group continues to encourage vaccination of all individuals, but due to privacy requirements, will not be disclosing the personal health information or vaccination status of any staff at any time.

Thank you for your e-mails of support.  We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
