McCormick Care Group – Family Update #2
Wednesday, June 28, 2023
On June 26, 2023, the Ministry of Long-Term Care updated its COVID-19 response measures for all long-term care homes. The most significant change related to masking requirements while inside the home.
For caregivers and visitors, masks are recommended but no longer required in all areas of the home effective June 29, 2023. This means that caregivers and visitors may once again book the Family Dining Room and share a meal or beverage with a resident in common areas. Please note that masking and other personal protective equipment requirements are still in place during all outbreaks.
New rules are also in place for staff, students, volunteers, and support workers. Generally speaking, masking will be based on a point-of care assessment, depending on the care being provided.
McCormick Home supports a “mask friendly” environment, accommodating staff who prefer to continue to wear masks. In alignment with our Resident Bill of Rights, we will also be accommodating residents (or substitute decision-makers) who request that staff members wear a mask while providing care. As such, masks will continue to be available at all entrances to the home.
Please note that passive screening remains in place, and we thank you all for continuing to sign in and out of the home.
