McCormick Care Group – Family Update

In the course of resolving the Ministry of Long-Term Care order related to air conditioning, we identified two opportunities to further enhance the performance of our cooling systems in resident bedrooms.

The first opportunity relates to re-balancing the supply and exhaust grilles associated with the air handling unit that services all resident bedrooms. This work, supervised by Chorley & Bisset, Consulting Engineers, will be undertaken by D.L. Zettler & Associates, who are independent HVAC testing, adjusting and balancing specialists.  The work will involve entering resident rooms to measure air flow and make any necessary adjustments to improve cooling. This work will begin on July 4, 2023, and is expected to take two to three weeks.  We will work with the contractor to minimize any impact on residents.

The second opportunity relates to adding solar control film on some of the windows at the end of the resident home area corridors to reduce the amount of heat generated by the sun.  We have used a similar product in our large program space in the day program and have been quite satisfied with its performance. This work is scheduled for July 10, 2023, and should be completed within one to two days.
